“Handling Medical Emergencies Abroad”

While planning an amazing vacation out of the country, your thoughts rarely include, “How will I get back to the U.S. if I’m critically injured in a Vespa accident in Italy?” or “Will I receive the best possible medical care if I have a stroke in Budapest?”  Travelers rarely consider the possibility of medical emergencies as they are booking their trips and packing their bags.

However, 72% of the patients transported by Angel MedFlight in 2009 were away from home when they were injured or became seriously ill.

This past November, Angel MedFlight transported a patient who became critically ill while vacationing in Mexico.  The patient’s story and Angel MedFlight are included in an article titled, “Handling Medical Emergencies Abroad” published in the March 2010 issue of Travel and Leisure.
