Sponsored by Angel MedFlight, the Arizona branch of HOPE worldwide has partnered with the American Red Cross to distribute life-saving fire prevention and safety information throughout Phoenix. This community outreach event is part of a national campaign planned in conjunction with Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service on Saturday, January 16th . It’s a great opportunity to get involved and volunteer for a worthwhile cause. Volunteers may choose either a morning or afternoon session with mandatory training scheduled at 9am or 1pm. Following the conclusion of the training course, teams of volunteers will be given street assignments and flyers for distribution.
In addition, volunteers who register for the event through the Disney website, will receive a free, single-day ticket to Disneyland in the mail after they complete their service. American Red Cross officials must verify the volunteer’s participation to be eligible for the Disney pass. Go to the DisneyParks website to search for opportunities. The American Red Cross Grand Canyon Chapter has posted one opportunity, entitled Day of Service for MLK 2010. Search for the activity by zip code and enter zip code 85015. Once registered through the Disney website, participants will be contacted by someone from Red Cross with more details.
